I approached writing this essay because when we were discussing the possible meaning of "The Veidt" in class, I brought up how I thought of how it could not only be a warning of how the things we own will begin to own us (a quote I took from fight club) but how lousy parenting and reliance on other things or people to act as parent figures could lead to emotionally deprived children with no reason to treat their biological parents as parents since they were never there for them, which is also included in what would be my third-story thesis.
